Important 2019 Royal Mail posting deadlines

November has arrived and before we know it, the busy Christmas season will be upon us. Here you will find useful information to keep your Christmas card planning stress-free and to ensure your Christmas greetings reach your loved ones on time.


UK Delivery

The last 2019 Christmas posting deadlines as recommended by Royal Mail are:

Wednesday 18 December Second Class Mail
Friday 20 December First Class Mail
Monday 23 December Special Delivery

Note: there will be no delivery and collection on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (as well as 2nd January in Scotland).


International Delivery

International Economy (formerly known as Surface Mail)

Some dates for the International Economy mail have already passed, however, there is still time to send mail to Western Europe, when the deadline is Saturday 16th November

International Standard (Airmail)

The last 2019 Christmas posting deadlines as recommended by Royal Mail are:

Monday 9 December Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Central and South America, Far and Middle East
Tuesday 10 December Cyprus, Malta
Wednesday 11 December Eastern Europe (except Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia)
Thursday 12 December Australia, Greece, New Zealand and Turkey
Saturday 14 December Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Poland, Sweden, USA
Monday 16 December Austria, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland
Wednesday 18 December Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg


Father Christmas

Royal Mail sends letters to the North Pole for free and if the letter is sent by Friday 6 December, Father Christmas will respond to your little ones! Letters must be sent to:

Father Christmas / Santa Claus
Santa’s Grotto
