Foil Stamping Explained

Shiny and lustrous, foil stamping can make a glittering impression for special projects. Whether it’s used alone or in conjunction with another printing process, foil stamping is all about adding that extra special sparkle to create an alluring combination of visuals and textures.

There aren’t a huge amount of limitations in foil colour as they extend to an impressive range of pigmented, holographic and metallic foils. All of these can be combined with embossed images or flat printing to produce varying tactile effects. There is a large selection available with the colours and metallics you can use, with varying finishes depending on the requirement and material being printed onto.

Similar to letterpress, within the design – it should be considered that it is sometimes tricky to combine large areas of solid colour and very fine type. We always advise designers to keep this in mind and try to avoid such differences within their artwork.
